SKODA YETI

Skoda introduces its first SUV in India and you will call it Yeti. The styling and design of this car is slightly different from the existing ones. The new boy has a chunky head lamp merged with the fog lamp-indicator set, which makes you stop at once to explore.

The Yeti is built on the platform of the Laura with added feature that totally makes up for the less impressive front looks. As usual, the Yeti launched in India is slightly different from those of the other countries. The length of this car is short enough to makes it easy for parking. Skoda has introduced a well designed seating system which is capable of serving ample space for a six footer by sliding the rear seat backwards. There is an electrically controlled two-part panoramic sunroof and crossways roofrack, symbolise the airiness of the Yeti.

Comfort Ride

When it comes to interior styling, it has a traditional central console, steering wheel and dial which looks similar to that of Laura and a few low level plastics without effecting its overall look can be found. To start with the characteristics of the car, it’s a full time four wheel drive with a special feature which allows one to have majority of the power to the front wheel and thus drive as a usual car. The rear wheels are automatically powered when it senses slip. In a similar fashion the rear wheels can have the major share of power when need arises and thus making it one good machine for normal terrains as well as the slushy conditions.

Engine Specification

The SUV comes with a 140 bhp, 2 Litre Common Rail Diesel engine and a six speed gear box . The engine has a very low turbo lag and thus makes the ride really smooth. The vehicle has an impressive acceleration to take you from rest to a 100kmph in just 11.2 seconds which is remarkable for an SUV in its class.

Price

Yeti is expected to enter the market with a starting price of 16 lakh (ex show room New Delhi)- reasonable for a compact SUV with impressive specification and features.
